Bergdorf Goodman Windows 2015 Brilliant Holiday
Posted on December 29 2015As always the four prominent windows on the 5th avenue side of Bergdorf Goodman NYC, are again undoubtedly the best Christmas displays in all of New York City. This year's theme is "Brilliant Holiday", which showcases each window uniquely telling a glamorous tale of fashion set in over 7 million Swarovski crystals. These 2015 windows celebrate Swarovski’s 120th anniversary and the release of a lavish monograph from Rizzoli documenting the company’s history and its far-flung collaborations in fashion, jewelry, performance, and design. This year is a truly a sight not to be missed. Starting at the south window titled, the Crown Jewels. Where a fashionable queen sits on her throne of tufted red interiors like a jewelry box, surrounded by 2 silver armored guards, 2 roaring gargoyles, 2 life sized maned lions, 1 antique telephone all topped with one large gold crown. Moving north up 5th avenue, the next window tells a story titled, Hidden Gem. A women wearing a bejeweled headlamp and shovel she finds herself standing in a purple cavern with her feet buried in gems. Next window tells a story of a birthday celebration featuring cakes for every month, bejeweled musical instruments, balloons and fashionable party goers, titled Glittery. The next window is the underwater tale of Neptune, set in a stunning texture made of Swarovski pearls. Framed with waves of pearls and surrounded by the gems of the sea this window is titled, The Treasure Chest. Lastly, a fortune teller scene titled, the Crystal Ball. Whether it's a wheel of fortune, a monkey with crystal ball or palm reading, today is your lucky day. Featuring large diamond rings and wheels spinning for love, power, truth and more.
Three fashion designers—Johnson Hartig of Libertine, Naeem Khan, and CD Greene—have contributed Swarovski-embellished looks for the windows, and the store’s salons are tricked out with dazzling chandeliers by design maestros Michael Anastassiades, Tord Boontje, D.B. Kim, and Yves Béhar. The windows were christened on November 16 by Nadja Swarovski, Linda Fargo (Bergdorf’s legendary tastemaker, fashion savant, and zeitgeist surfer), and David Hoey, BG’s senior director of visual presentation, who designed the breathtaking windows. Brilliant, indeed. - MAYER RUS, Architectural DigestOf course, these are better in person, the Swarovski crystals sparkle beautifully and the craftsmanship is jaw droppingly impressive. There are extremely talented people working on these displays and I think I may have to go see these again this year. See last years Berdorf GoodmanWindows 2014 Holidays on Ice here.
