Macy's Flower Show 2013, The Painted Garden, New York City

I always have my eyes on bag design but for a few days now I've been noticing this beautiful elephant illustration for Macy's and not knowing what it was for. I finally looked it up on the internet and it's for Macy's Flower show, The Painted Garden. Since I work near 34th Street I decided to check it out and get the chance to photograph this bag first hand for a blog entry. Little did I know what I was about to find! I started by walking along 34th store windows filled with paper stars and mannequins hinting about the show. I than entered the store greeted with huge decals on the floor, shoppers with that familiar shopping bag and even Flower Show merchandise. I walked around but I couldn't find the show. I roamed a few floors searching, taking pictures thinking maybe these flower displays are it. It wasn't until I exited the store at Herald Square, on Broadway, that I found what I was looking for. Curiosity, lead me to the real decorated windows (same ones filled with the Holiday displays around Christmas) and into line for admission to the a tent. The sign said it was free so I had nothing to lose except a few minutes waiting in line. But no regrets, the inside is a surprising botanical explosion of vibrant colors and smells evoking architecture of South Asia influence. Sensual music made the tent peaceful and happy people took the time to smell the roses, literally. I only wished it was a bigger tent. Image This graphic and illustrated campaign is huge and worth seeing. Go see the show before it closes. Open daily during store hours until Sunday, April 7 in New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Minneapolis and Washington D.C. Check the beautifully animated website for exact times and locations.
