Round Chocolate Bars

[caption id="attachment_86" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Guajillo Chili Chocolate Mexicano"][/caption] Not only is TAZA chocolate an interesting fuze of flavors and grainy texture but it also has rare packaging. I often shop at a grocery across from where I go to school and work called the Westside Market NYC. It has a pretty large selection of speciality foods from cheeses to olives to juices and produce. Of course, the chocolates are right near the register and many a times while waiting to be rung out do I find myself skimming over the selections. Tonight was the night I finally splurged and got this $5 bar of chocolate I've had my eye on. I had been looking at TAZA for some time now because the packaging is so different. It is just so simple, circular bar with one color wax paper wrap sealed in the back with a round label. Genius. The differentiation of a round bar versus the common rectangle won me over - as well as its graphics expressing it was organic. This chocolate also comes in many unique flavors such as chili, vanilla, cinnamon and more. It was the chili flavor I tried tonight and it was absolutely delicious - defiantly a high-end chocolate. Inside the wrap is actually two thin discs, molded for eight slices per disc for easy breaking, perfect for a chocolate tasting party. Just an added note, I attended a chocolate tasting class last weekend and I learned how to tell a chocolate was of high quality by the way it snaps or breaks apart easily - which TAZA's chocolate did impeccably. Again, I highly recommend trying some. There will be a free tasting Friday, March 5 from 4:30pm – 7:00pm at Garden of Eden's Chelsea store (162 West 23rd Street, NY, NY). If you can't make that one just check there website for other events.
